Using the nationally-normed Terra Nova test, we measure all scholars’ progress at Akili, and are able to track each cohort of scholars as they move through our program toward 8th Grade.We define “at or above grade level” on the Terra Nova as reaching the 5th Stanine or higher.

Class of 2025 (our inaugural cohort of Kindergarten scholars in 2008-2009):

• 85% at or above grade level at the end of Kindergarten
• 95% at or above grade level at the end of 1st Grade

Class of 2024 (our inaugural cohort of 1st Graders in 2008-2009, and our only cohort that didn’t attend Kindergarten at Akili):

• 77% at or above grade level at the end of 1st Grade
• 74% at or above grade level at the end of 2nd Grade

In April of 2011, the Class of 2024 became the first cohort of Akili scholars to take the iLeap (Louisiana’s state assessment) – 88% of them scored Basic or higher, the highest percentage of any school in the Recovery School District.
